Welcome to Ampleforth & Hovingham Surgeries
We are asking patients to
wear a face covering when visiting the surgery
as the recommended 2 metres social distancing may not be able to be maintained either during a consultation, while waiting for an appointment or when collecting a prescription. Please click here for more information.
We have introduced an online consultation service so you don’t always need to come into the Practice to get our medical expertise. You can input your symptoms online and will receive a response from the Practice, generally by telephone, usually by the end of the next working day at the very latest. You will also have access to reliable and trustworthy self-help generic information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week that may help you to avoid an appointment altogether.
Please click here for more information about Online Consultations.
Information for Patients who are Shielding
The UK Government has set out a roadmap for the clinically extremely vulnerable on the future of the shielding programme. For now, the guidance remains the same - stay at home and only go outside to exercise or to spend time outdoors with a member of your household, or with one other person from another household if you live alone - but the guidance will change on 6th July and again on 1st August. Please click here for more detailed information.
Please allow a minimum of 5 working days to order your medication. We are experiencing delays in medication stock delivery from our wholesalers.

Working with Other Practices During Coronavirus
We have been working hard with other GP Practices to redesign how we provide Primary Care Services to our patients as we work through the Covid-19 outbreak. We are putting in place a new approach and you may see changes if you access services from Ampleforth & Hovingham Surgeries during this time. This approach will enable us to make sure that we continue to provide the services patients need in the days, weeks and months ahead. Our approach sees us working with other GP Practices in a new way by 'clustering together' to form a network to provide services over multiple sites. This means you may receive services somewhere other than at Ampleforth & Hovingham Surgeries and may see someone other than your usual GP or Nurse.
Extended Access Service
Ampleforth & Hovingham Surgeries work alongside other GP Practices in Ryedale to provide services 7 days per week. Click here for more information about booking appointments.

Our dedicated team are here to treat those minor ailments that occur as well as providing specialist management of long-term conditions and clinics covering a wide range of healthcare issues. The technology also means you can now do a lot of things from the comfort of your home such as order a repeat prescription or cancel an appointment.
We are confident that our website will provide clear and concise help and give our patients the information they require in an easy and convenient format. It has been designed with the patient’s needs at the forefront of everything, from checking surgery times to letting us know what you think of us.
Partners in Care
Once registered, patients and healthcare professionals work together to ensure the most appropriate care is provided. This partnership philosophy extends even further and our active patient group exists to make sure that patient needs and the practice offering are always heading in the same direction.
Ampleforth Surgery has ramp access from the car park at the front of the surgery. A handrail is also being installed to make it easier to access the surgery. Hovingham Surgery offers parking right outside the door on a flat surface which you may find easier.
If you require assistance please ring before visiting the surgery and we will be waiting to help.
